If you are a Van Nuys adult who has been living with crooked teeth, you might have considered orthodontics. But chances are, you envisioned a gawky teenager with a mouth full of metal wires and brackets.

Or perhaps you had braces when you were younger, but because you didn’t wear your retainer consistently, your teeth have slid back into a relapsed position.

A smile with straight, even teeth is not only aesthetically pleasing, but properly aligned teeth are easier to take care of.

At The Dental Care Center, we offer Invisalign invisible braces, which are an excellent option for adults and teens who do not want to undergo traditional orthodontics.

How the Invisalign System Works

Invisalign invisible braces require patients to wear a set of clear plastic aligners for at least 22 hours each day. The aligners are removable for eating, so there are no food restrictions. Caring for your teeth is also easier since you can remove the aligners for brushing and flossing.

Every two or three weeks, you will get a new set of aligners that will continue to nudge your teeth into their proper position.

The aligners are virtually invisible. A person sitting across from you will be hard-pressed to notice you are wearing them. If you have a special event or will have your picture taken, you can remove the aligners for a few hours.

Many patients also enjoy the fact that they can see their progress as each new set of aligners moves their teeth into the desired straight position.

Good Candidates for Invisalign

It is important to commit to wearing the Invisalign aligners for the minimum of 22 hours each day in order to see continued progress. For this reason, older teens and adults are usually the best candidates for this type of orthodontia.
