Orthodontics for Straight and Healthy Teeth

Orthodontics Patient | The Dental Care Center

Often, when people think about orthodontics, they picture a mouth filled with wire and metal. They imagine the heaviness of this metal or the unsightly appearance of gray wires.

This is not the case in our Van Nuys, CA dental office. In fact, the Dental Care Center offers invisible and discreet teeth-straightening procedures, and we don’t mean metal braces, rubber bands, or any of the other old school technologies.

Orthodontics for Straight Teeth

Sometimes, orthodontics requires dental extractions when a jaw is too small to support a full mouth of teeth. This does not mean smile gaps, but it does represent a good way to bring teeth in line. No one will know you’ve had an extraction, in other words.

Invisalign clear braces are our go-to for straightening teeth discreetly. Invisalign relies on clear plastic aligners to straighten teeth. These aligners are changed out periodically to advance your teeth into straighter positions.

These aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. However, as a rule, you should wear your aligners for about 22 hours per day.

Orthodontics for Healthy Teeth

When teeth are not straight, this often causes further dental issues down the line and may lead to jaw pain.

Crooked or overlapping teeth make optimal brushing and flossing difficult, which can cause cavities and dental infections. Also, straight teeth interfere with your bite, which can cause teeth to wear down or promote jaw pain later.

Further, straight teeth promote emotional wellness. When you feel good about your smile, this is a definite positive when it comes to self-esteem.
